Mexico detains suspected cartel leaders in Chihuahua and Sinaloa
Several suspected leaders of criminal groups were detained in Mexico during operations in the states of Chihuahua and Sinaloa. In particular, Epifanio, known by the nickname Pepa, and his son Alejandro were detained in the municipality of Manuel Ojinaga in Chihuahua.
Detentions in Chihuahua
Mexican military personnel and the National Guard took part in the operation. According to Anadolu Agency, authorities identified Epifanio as a regional operator for La Linea, a faction of the Juarez cartel that the United States has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
The detainees were taken into custody under a temporary warrant in a case involving alleged drug trafficking and the smuggling of people into the United States. During the raid, security forces seized five firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and two vehicles.

Operation in Sinaloa
Separately, law enforcement officers in the state of Sinaloa detained two people identified as Angel, nicknamed Tronco, and Milton. Officials link them to the January kidnapping of 10 mining industry workers.
A grenade launcher, tactical equipment, and various narcotic substances were also seized during this operation. US Northern Command confirmed that US agencies provided intelligence support for the operation in Chihuahua through the Joint Interagency Task Force.
