Ghana calls for African Mall to operate around the clock — MyJoyOnline
Community leaders in Ejisu-Kwamo, Ghana, have called on the management of the recently opened African Mall to consider operating around the clock. In their view, such a schedule would help create new jobs, boost economic activity and ensure residents have access to goods and services at any time.
As MyJoyOnline reports, local authorities positively assessed the opening of the complex. Officials believe it could transform commercial activity in the community.
Nearly one hundred employees
Nearly 100 people are employed at African Mall. Ashanti Region Security Coordinator Alhaji Nji Abdallah Umar said that employees have a source of income and pay taxes, which, according to him, benefits the economy.

According to him, the possibility of operating within the government’s 24-hour economy policy is being discussed with the shopping center’s management. Umar noted that extending operating hours would give residents broader access to the center’s services and help create additional jobs.
Ejisu’s potential for trade
African Mall Operations Manager Bao Jian Wen said that the decision to open the facility in Ejisu was linked to the area’s growing population and its potential for business development. In his assessment, although many shopping centers are concentrated in busy urban areas, Ejisu has opportunities for new retail investment.
He also drew attention to the growth of Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city, and commercial activity around Ejisu. Community representatives hope that African Mall’s management will support the proposal for round-the-clock operation.
