Finland's longest bridge has opened in Helsinki

A new bridge, the Kruunuvuori Bridge, has opened in Finland's capital, making it the longest in the country.

This was reported by Yle.

The bridge, approximately 1.2 km long, connects the island district of Laajasalo in the east of the city with the center of Helsinki via the island of Korkeasaari.

After nearly five years of construction, it has been opened to pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles. A tram service is planned to be launched here in the future.

The bridge’s opening drew significant interest—hundreds of people immediately gathered there, and a special event was organized for cyclists.

Helsinki Mayor Daniel Sazonov noted that the new bridge significantly improves the city’s transport accessibility and brings outlying areas closer to the center.

As a reminder, Finland has deported a record number of Russians.

Finland is also making it more difficult to obtain a permanent residence permit.
