The private island of Makri has been put up for sale in Greece. The auction is scheduled for November, and the starting price is 247,000 euros.

Makri is part of the Echinades archipelago in the Ionian Sea. All that remains on the island are a few dilapidated structures: a small house, a chapel, and a water tank.
However, potential buyers are unlikely to be able to turn the island into a luxury resort. Makri has the status of a nature reserve and is part of the European Natura 2000 ecological network. Because of this, only minimal infrastructure and agricultural activities are permitted there.
Makri was first put up for sale back in 2022 for €8 million, but after a reassessment of its value, it became clear that due to conservation restrictions, investor interest in the small piece of land was significantly lower.
