A veteran of the Kraken special forces unit was detained in Kyiv
Gleb Novostroyny, a veteran of the “Kraken” special forces unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, known by the call sign “Dnipryanin,” was detained in Kyiv. At this time, there is almost no official information regarding the criminal proceedings.
Following the arrest, the commander of the special forces unit issued a statement, but the details of the case have not yet been disclosed.
According to Nemichev, Novostroyny served for four years in the Kraken assault company and was discharged from service last year due to health reasons.
“Gleb Novostroyny, who served for four years in the Kraken assault company and was discharged from service last year due to health reasons, was detained in Kyiv. Gleb is a Dnipro soccer fan and has been defending Kharkiv since the first days of the full-scale invasion,” Nemichev wrote.
He noted that there is currently virtually no official information regarding the criminal proceedings.
“The case is classified; all that is known is that the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv is set to consider the issue of imposing a preventive measure on him. There is no other official information on the case,” the founder of Kraken reported.
“Unofficial sources suggest that he may be charged in connection with the murder of an office worker in Bali,” Nemichev added.
Konstantin Nemichev also expressed hope for a transparent investigation into the case.
“I hope that, following the publicity, the case will be as open as possible, and that law enforcement agencies will act strictly within the bounds of the law, ensuring an objective investigation,” he wrote.
As of now, there have been no official statements from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies regarding the detention of Gleb Novostroynoy or the filing of charges against him.
