Another 19 companies are being liquidated in Kyrgyzstan over alleged circumvention of sanctions against Russia
The Kyrgyz authorities will begin the process of forcibly liquidating 19 companies that may be linked to circumventing EU and U.S. sanctions against Russia.
The decision was made as part of measures to reduce sanctions risks. In total, since late June, Kyrgyzstan has identified about 40 companies with elevated sanctions risk.
The country is also tightening controls over banks and financial transactions. The state-owned Eldik Bank has ceased cooperation with 109 companies since July, and accounts for about 20 more are in the process of being closed. The bank continues to review payments to identify transactions related to sanctions evasion.
Another state-owned bank, “Abank,” has terminated business relations with approximately 35 companies, and about 40 more are under review.
