Up to 20 cm of snow has fallen in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan
In the high-altitude regions of Kyrgyzstan, the beginning of June was marked by unusual winter weather conditions. The At-Bashin District of the Naryn Region was hit hardest by the bad weather, with snow depths reaching up to 20 centimeters in some places.
According to local media reports, the region was effectively hit by a powerful snowstorm, despite the calendar start of summer.
“Instead of summer warmth, the region was hit by a powerful blizzard,” sources note.
Due to the severe weather conditions, public utilities and rescue services have been placed on high alert.
Forecasters emphasize that such sudden weather changes in June are rare even for the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan. According to the local meteorological center, the weather is expected to gradually stabilize in the coming days in the At-Bashin district and the city of Naryn.
According to the forecast, the snow cover should melt quickly under the influence of daytime heat, and winter weather will gradually give way to summer warmth.
