China–ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Forum opens in China — ECNS
The 2026 China–ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Forum has opened in Nanning, the administrative center of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China. During the event, the China–ASEAN Environmental Cooperation Strategy and Action Framework Plan for 2026–2030 was presented, ECNS reports.
Participants and agenda
The forum will run until Friday and has brought together nearly 300 representatives of environmental ministries from ASEAN countries, Chinese local authorities, international organizations, research institutions and businesses.
Participants will discuss the green and low-carbon transition, increasing resilience to climate change, compliance with international environmental conventions, and innovation in green finance.

Statements at the forum
Participants noted the previous cooperation between China and ASEAN countries and agreed to strengthen consensus on regional environmental governance. They also stated their intention to turn the results of cooperation into concrete action in support of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Guangxi Vice Chair Sui Guohua emphasized the region's role as a key gateway to ASEAN countries. She called for developing cooperation in green industries, low-carbon and circular development, as well as strengthening regional climate resilience.
