Shanghai completes preparations for 48th WorldSkills — ECNS
In Shanghai, China, preparations are being completed at the National Exhibition and Convention Center five days before the opening of the 48th WorldSkills competition. All materials for the 64 competition disciplines have already been delivered, while the setup of functional premises and workstations has been virtually completed, ECNS reports.
Venue preparations
The competitions will take place across eight venues and cover six major sectors, including transport and logistics as well as construction technology. Around 1 million units of infrastructure equipment have been arranged for the competition.
The final adjustment of facilities and equipment is currently underway. Gao Zhanfeng, deputy director of the competition department of the executive bureau of the 48th WorldSkills Shanghai, said that all preparatory work is expected to be completed by Friday.

Safety and interactive spaces
Security, emergency response and other units are jointly implementing separate plans for each discipline. They are intended to ensure safety and technical support throughout the competition.
Chen Qiong, head of the creative arts and fashion venue, said that the design of the locations meets WorldSkills International requirements. According to her, this should help participants from different countries quickly adapt to the competition environment. Chinese representatives will compete in all 64 disciplines while continuing their preparations.
In hairdressing, AI-based design technologies will be used to help contestants create digital sketches. Black light-absorbing backdrops have been prepared for floristry, while external screens have been installed in computer disciplines to display participants' actions in real time. Interactive spaces have also been set up near the competition venues, where visitors will be able to try simple work modules involving various skills.
