China marks the 2577th anniversary of Confucius’ birth — ECNS
A ceremony marking the 2577th anniversary of the birth of the philosopher Confucius was held in Qufu, in China’s Shandong Province, on September 28. Representatives of China and other countries took part in the event, ECNS reports.
Ceremony at the Temple of Confucius
The ceremony took place at the Temple of Confucius in Qufu. According to the publication, the thinker was born in this city during the Spring and Autumn period, which spanned from 770 to 476 BC. Confucius is described as a Chinese thinker and educator, as well as the founder of the Confucian school of thought.

Forum and cultural festival
The 2026 Nishan World Civilizations Forum and the China International Confucius Cultural Festival also joined the anniversary celebrations. The cultural festival will run from September 28 to October 7; its program includes study tours and traditional folk events.
The Nishan World Civilizations Forum opened on September 28 under the theme “Civilization, Order and Justice.” The forum, first held in 2010, includes keynote speeches, high-level interviews and panel discussions. According to ECNS, it has become a platform for international cultural exchanges, while the festival focuses on engaging a broad audience and holding cultural events.
