China records 6.71 million border crossings during holidays — ECNS

China recorded 6.71 million entries and exits across the state border during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival celebration from September 25 to 27. This is 16.8% more than during the same period last year, ECNS reports, citing China’s National Immigration Administration.

The highest traffic was recorded on September 26

The average number of border crossings per day was 2.236 million. The highest figure was recorded on September 26, with 2.342 million crossings.

Residents of mainland China made 3.206 million cross-border trips, 5.3% more than during last year’s holiday period. The number of entries and exits by residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan reached 2.775 million, up 27.7% year on year.

The number of trips by foreigners increased

Foreign nationals crossed China’s border 728,000 times, 37.7% more than last year. Among foreigners arriving in China, 247,000 people used the visa-free policy; this figure increased by 32.7%.

Border services also processed 309,000 vehicles entering or leaving the country. This is 8.6% more than during last year’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
