North Korea says it will never give up its nuclear status — Reuters

North Korea will never renounce its official status as a nuclear power and continues to build up its military capabilities.

This was stated by the influential sister of North Korean dictator Kim Yo-jong, commenting on rumors of Pyongyang’s possible disarmament.

The high-profile statement came amid the official announcement of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to North Korea for strategic talks.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already officially confirmed that the Chinese leader will hold his first face-to-face meeting with Kim Jong-un in seven years.

The main goal of this visit is to normalize and strengthen bilateral ties with North Korea, which remains Beijing’s only official ally under a current international treaty.

Kim Yo-jong reacted harshly to media reports regarding secret agreements between world leaders concerning restrictions on North Korea’s defense program.

In particular, the dictator’s sister firmly denied reports of alleged agreements between Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump on denuclearization, which supposedly took place during the May summit.

“We have the most accurate information on whether these claims are true or not,” she emphasized in her official statement, while refusing to disclose further details.

Alongside diplomatic statements, Pyongyang is showcasing its actual military achievements and new industrial capabilities to the world.

Earlier this week, North Korean authorities publicly unveiled a new nuclear materials production facility for the first time, where Kim Jong Un personally urged the military to exponentially expand the country’s nuclear arsenal.

This latest show of force demonstrates the DPRK’s complete disregard for previous international sanctions and calls for de-escalation.

Reuters reports on this.

North Korea has received billions in revenue for supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine

North Korea recently launched several unidentified ballistic missiles from the Sinpo area. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff recorded the launches around 6:10 a.m. local time.

North Korea has likely significantly expanded its nuclear arsenal capabilities by intensifying work at key strategic facilities.
