Russian officials have stated that no visit by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys to Moscow is planned in the near future. This was announced by Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on a possible trip by U.S. representatives. According to him, no meetings with Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are scheduled in Moscow in the near future.
Previously, the possibility of a trip by the American envoys had been discussed publicly. It was reported that they might visit both Kyiv and Moscow as part of diplomatic contacts related to efforts to resolve the war.
It should be noted that the Russian side is no longer interested in periodic visits by U.S. special envoys and advocates for a change in the format of interaction.
Moscow believes that a permanent diplomatic mechanism is necessary to discuss a peaceful settlement. This involves creating working groups and holding regular meetings instead of individual visits by representatives of the U.S. administration.
In addition, Russia is counting on the appointment of a new U.S. ambassador to the country, which, according to Russian authorities, could contribute to a more stable dialogue between the parties.
