Two suspects detained in Lahore over trading citizens’ data — Dawn
In Lahore, Pakistan, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) detained two suspects over the illegal acquisition, storage and sale of citizens’ personal data. According to the agency, the operation seized two mobile phones and devices containing nearly three terabytes of sensitive and personal data.
Data of more than 10 million people
As Dawn reports, the NCCIA said the detained men, Arsalan and Ali Raza, may have had access to the data of more than 10 million citizens. According to the agency, the operation was conducted on the instructions of Hussam bin Iqbal, the NCCIA director in Punjab province.
According to the NCCIA, the seized data included information on SIM card owners and registrations, telephone call records, SIM card databases, information on users’ locations, family ties, and sensitive data related to various government institutions.

Mini Nadra website
The NCCIA claims that the suspects allegedly operated the Mini Nadra website, through which they, according to investigators, provided information related to Nadra. The agency also said they had access to the Khoji platform and were involved in the illegal trade of sensitive data.
A case has been registered against both detainees. The investigation is ongoing.
