Generators at Gaza Strip hospitals stop due to shortages of fuel, oil and spare parts
Electric generators have stopped operating at several hospitals in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, due to shortages of fuel, oil and spare parts. The Gaza Health Ministry said this, Anadolu Agency reports.
Shortage of oil and spare parts
The ministry said that several generators had broken down in recent days. According to the agency, the shortage of generator oil is increasingly complicating the provision of electricity to hospitals.
The limited amount of oil that Israel recently allowed to be delivered to Gaza covers only emergency needs, the ministry said. Hospitals require approximately 2,500 litres of oil each month.

Generator operation
The remaining generators operate around the clock under difficult technical and mechanical conditions and cannot supply electricity to all departments providing life-saving care, the ministry said. It warned that other generators could also stop without an urgent replacement of oil and called for the necessary materials to be delivered immediately.
Due to the prolonged power outage, generators have become the main source of power for hospitals in the Gaza Strip. Their operation has repeatedly been disrupted by shortages of fuel and spare parts.
