A design for a memorial to Queen Elizabeth II was unveiled in London – video
The British architectural firm Foster + Partners has unveiled a design for a future memorial to Queen Elizabeth II, which will be located in the Royal Park in Westminster. The centerpiece of the composition will be a glass bridge, whose design is inspired by the monarch’s wedding tiara.
Dezeen reports on the tribute to the Queen’s legacy through a combination of architecture and sculptural forms.
The complex will include a statue of a young Elizabeth II near Marlborough Gate, a statue of Prince Philip, and a separate bust of the Queen. The gardens and park landscape will be designed to honor the Commonwealth countries and regions of the United Kingdom. Artist Yinka Shonibare and landscape architect Michelle Desvigne are collaborating with the architects on the project.
