A tornado and a severe hailstorm were reported in Minnesota

In the state of Minnesota (U.S.), a powerful storm triggered a series of dangerous weather phenomena—tornadoes, heavy downpours, and large hailstones, some of which measured 7–8 centimeters in diameter.

This was reported by the U.S. National Weather Service.

The largest hailstones were recorded in Rice County, where a tornado warning had previously been issued. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms were also observed in other parts of the state.

In the city of Faribo, hailstones the size of chicken eggs and golf balls fell. In Cannon Falls, hailstones the size of table tennis balls were recorded. Due to the scale of the hailstorm in Faribo, the hail had to be cleared using specialized equipment, similar to how snow is cleared after a snowfall.

In addition, at least one tornado was confirmed in the southern part of the state. According to eyewitnesses, a powerful vortex was observed near the towns of Truman and Ambo in Blue Earth County.

Local residents received emergency alerts urging them to immediately seek shelter or go to basements. Later, videos of another tornado in the Hartland area, approximately 80–100 km from Truman, appeared online.

It is currently unclear whether this refers to the same tornado.

Such weather phenomena are typical for the Midwestern United States, where severe storms with tornadoes, hail, and heavy rains are frequently recorded in the spring and summer, which can cause significant damage to infrastructure and pose a threat to the population.
