The International Criminal Court is dissatisfied with Chad and Venezuela's plans to withdraw from the Rome Statute
The Bureau of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute expressed concern over Chad and Venezuela’s intention to withdraw from the international treaty establishing the International Criminal Court.
The statement emphasizes that such decisions could weaken international efforts to combat impunity and undermine the system of international justice.
The ICC also called on Chad and Venezuela to reconsider their decision, remain parties to the Rome Statute, and continue constructive cooperation within the Assembly.
The Bureau reminded that even if a state withdraws from the Statute, it is not relieved of the obligations that arose during its participation in the treaty.

Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it had notified the UN Secretary-General of the country’s intention to withdraw from the Rome Statute—the international treaty on which the International Criminal Court (ICC) is based. This was reported by Deutsche Welle English.
Following the suspension of International Criminal Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it hopes to secure his extradition. Moscow believes that he will now allegedly no longer enjoy international immunity in countries that are parties to the Rome Statute.
