The Polish Ministry of the Interior has responded to claims regarding the deportation of Ukrainians of draft age
The Polish Ministry of the Interior has called the statements by the opposition Law and Justice (PiS) party regarding the possible deportation of Ukrainian men of draft age “populist.”
During the PiS policy convention, the party’s vice president, MEP Tobiasz Bochen, stated that if the party wins the 2027 elections, one of the government’s first decisions would be to deport Ukrainian men of draft age who are not working legally in Poland.
“If two offenses are committed or administrative or official duties are not fulfilled, the relevant information will immediately appear in this system, and the deportation process will begin,” said Bochenowski.
The Polish Ministry of the Interior criticized these proposals.
“These ideas are pure absurdity and populism,” said Karolina Halecka.
According to data from the Polish Social Insurance Agency, about 95% of Ukrainian men of draft age residing in Poland work legally and pay taxes.
According to Halecka, Ukrainians are thus contributing to Poland’s economic growth.
“On the other hand, those who violate the law are deported in accordance with decisions made, for example, by the Border Guard,” the spokesperson added.
Galecka also drew attention to statistics on the deportation of foreigners.
She noted that in 2023, when the Law and Justice party was in power, approximately 3,000 foreigners were deported from Poland.
Meanwhile, in 2025, approximately 10,000 foreigners of various nationalities left the country as part of deportation procedures.
“These figures show that the current government is pursuing a very strict policy toward those who violate the law,” emphasized the Interior Ministry spokesperson.
She also stressed that Poland remains an open and hospitable country.
According to Halecka, in addition to Ukrainians working in Poland, there are also Ukrainian students in the country who are studying, shopping, and contributing to the country’s economy.

The Consulate General of Ukraine in Wrocław is monitoring reports of an attack on three Ukrainian citizens in the town of Kozuchów in Poland’s Lubusz Voivodeship. Polish law enforcement agencies are investigating the circumstances of the incident and its possible motives.
On the evening of August 1, in the town of Kozhukhiv (Lubusz Voivodeship), three Ukrainian citizens—37-year-old Volodymyr, 32-year-old Vasyl, and 28-year-old Adelina—were attacked. The incident took place on the private grounds of the hostel where the victims were staying.
