In Nepal, two rhinos escaped from a national park and got into a fight in the city
In Nepal, two rhinos escaped from Chitwan National Park and got into a fight in the middle of the town of Sauraha, in full view of locals and tourists.
This was reported by the BBC and India Today.
The incident occurred in Chitwan District, where the animals found themselves outside the protected area after crossing the Rapti River and entering a residential area.
Eyewitnesses say the rhinos moved chaotically through the streets and later began butting heads right in the local market. People who witnessed the event shouted while simultaneously filming what was happening on video.
Chitwan National Park later explained that the animals were initially moving separately: one of the rhinos was calmly walking through the town, after which the other appeared, and a clash began between them. Eventually, one of them calmed down and began to graze peacefully.
Chitwan National Park is one of Nepal’s most famous nature reserves and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is home to about 700 Indian one-horned rhinos, as well as other rare animal species, including Bengal tigers and elephants.
Earlier, a lynx named Stepan from the Kyiv Zoo took social media by storm after noticeably gaining weight over the winter.
