A series of ATM explosions has occurred in the Netherlands; one person has been killed
Over the course of the week, the Netherlands has seen a spate of ATM explosions, one of which injured a teenage girl. The victim was hospitalized with injuries from flying glass shards, and residents of nearby apartments were evacuated due to significant damage to the building.

In addition to the incident in Utrecht, a similar explosion occurred on the night of March 27, 2026, in the Amsterdam-Nieuw-West district, where the blast wave shattered windows in residential units on the upper floors.
Police are investigating a possible link between these attacks and the explosions in Laren and other areas of the capital that occurred in late March. The criminals target cash deposit terminals and use powerful explosives, causing widespread destruction to infrastructure. Law enforcement is currently determining whether the attackers managed to steal funds and promises to strengthen security at financial network facilities. Similar incidents have also been reported at local hotels, indicating a systematic nature to the attacks on banking equipment.
