Nigeria’s MSSN honours former JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede
In Nigeria, the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) honoured former registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Ishaq Oloyede after the completion of his 10-year tenure. The ceremonial reception was held under the theme “The Oloyede Blueprint: Integrity, Innovation and Accountability in Public Service,” Premium Times Nigeria reports.
MSSN said that Oloyede’s work at JAMB helped strengthen transparency, accountability and public trust in the higher education admissions system. The society’s national amir, Mustapha Olumide, described Oloyede as a scholar, administrator and public servant whose career, he said, had been marked by integrity, innovation and accountability.
Assessment of his work at JAMB
According to Olumide, Oloyede demonstrated at JAMB how technology, ingenuity, transparency, efficiency and accountability can transform public institutions. He also cited Oloyede’s work as vice-chancellor of the University of Ilorin as an example of implementing innovation and responsible management.

The event organizers credited the former registrar with transforming the examination body through the use of technology and improved management practices. According to a biography presented at the reception, within a year of his appointment, JAMB remitted about 8 billion naira to the state, while less than 50 million naira had been remitted over the previous 40 years.
Academic career
Ishaq Oloyede was born on October 10, 1954, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He enrolled at the University of Ilorin in 1978 and graduated with first-class honours in 1981. He later received a master’s degree in 1985 and a doctoral degree in 1991.
In 1995, Oloyede became a professor of Islamic jurisprudence, and in 2025, an emeritus professor. He held the positions of director of academic planning, deputy vice-chancellor and vice-chancellor at the University of Ilorin. According to the biography, in 2008 he introduced computer-based testing at the university, which was later adopted by other institutions, including JAMB. Oloyede headed JAMB from 2016 to 2026 and is now secretary-general of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
