Police in Nigeria intercept vehicle with suspected drugs and camouflage — Premium Times Nigeria
Police in Nigeria’s Delta State said they intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly carrying boxes containing substances that law enforcement officers consider suspected illegal drugs, as well as military camouflage items. According to police, the vehicle was travelling from Onitsha in Anambra State to Ondo State. During the operation, officers detained the 45-year-old driver, Isaac Urji, from Abia State.
Seized items
As Premium Times Nigeria reports, officers from the anti-cultism unit in Asaba acted on received information. According to the state police spokesperson, Bright Edafe, officers set up surveillance and stopped the green Toyota Sienna at about 4:50 on September 18.
During the search, police said they found boxes containing suspected tramadol and other substances considered illegal drugs in the vehicle. Military camouflage uniforms, boots and headgear were also seized. Police claim that Urji is assisting the investigation in establishing the source and intended destination of the cargo. Law enforcement officers are also trying to identify other individuals who may be connected to the seized items.

Other arrests
Police also reported two separate operations against people suspected of involvement in cult groups. On September 18, two people aged 18 and 22 were detained in the Alisheme community in the Ika South Local Government Area. Investigators believe they may belong to the Neo Black Movement Confraternity, also known as Black Axe, and may be involved in the group’s activities and kidnappings. During the operation, officers seized a locally made single-barrel gun, a battle axe, two machetes, mobile phones and a laptop.
Another four suspects were detained on September 15 in the Ogboli Quarter area and other parts of Iselle-Uku. Police said they seized two locally made pistols, a pump-action shotgun and six rounds of ammunition. All six people detained in the two operations remain in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
