Qatar denies funding Hamas — Jerusalem Post
Qatar has rejected claims that it financed the Hamas group under the guise of humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip. Qatar’s International Media Office said such accusations are spread by Israeli far-right representatives and politicians to divert attention from domestic political problems and make Qatar a convenient scapegoat.
As The Jerusalem Post reports, Qatar’s statement was released after an article by the Israeli outlet Yedioth Ahronoth. Its author, Ronen Bergman, claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was repeatedly warned in 2019 about the alleged use of Qatari funds to finance Hamas’s military wing.
Qatar’s and Israel’s positions
Qatar’s International Media Office said that the country had never provided money to Hamas. At the same time, Doha confirmed that it had provided aid to Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip in coordination with Israeli authorities and international partners. It also stressed that Qatar has no interest in interfering in Israel’s domestic politics.

Netanyahu’s office called the Yedioth Ahronoth article a collection of previously refuted claims. The Israeli prime minister’s office said the publication was intended to harm his election campaign ahead of the October 27 election. It also claimed that Netanyahu ordered the Qatari grant to be immediately halted at the start of Operation Guardian of the Walls, and that the government of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid later resumed it.
Aid to the Gaza Strip
The article also mentions previous accusations against Netanyahu concerning Qatari funds for Gaza. In particular, KAN News reported in October 2025 on a 2020 document that, according to the broadcaster, indicated that Israel encouraged Qatar to transfer funds to the Gaza Strip despite information about significant sums reaching Hamas.
Separately, Qatar reported an agreement with the UN to supply about 1.3 million liters of fuel to the Gaza Strip. According to Doha, from October 7, 2023, through the end of March 2026, Qatar delivered approximately 30 million liters of fuel to Gaza.
