Police in Nigeria say 16-year-old boy rescued after abduction
In Nigeria, police said they rescued a 16-year-old boy whom, according to their information, unknown persons abducted in the Igbo-Eze South local government area of Enugu State. The teenager was later left near a checkpoint in the city of Onitsha, Anambra State.
Teenager found near checkpoint
Anambra State Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga said officers rescued the boy on Monday. According to him, a joint patrol at Ekwene Junction along Oguta Road in Onitsha found the teenager after unknown persons allegedly dropped him off from a black Toyota Highlander SUV near a security point.

Ikenga noted that intensified joint security operations were conducted the previous evening, on September 13. The state police said they had strengthened surveillance and other measures based on operational intelligence to identify, trace and arrest those involved in the alleged abduction.
Police search for boy's family
Law enforcement officers appealed to residents of the Igbo-Eze South area and the Ibagwa-Aka community in Enugu State to provide information that could help locate the teenager's family. Anambra State Commissioner of Police Nnanna Ama praised the vigilance and professionalism of the patrol team and called on officers to continue patrols, checkpoint operations and coordinated security operations.
