US F-16 fighter crashes in Germany, pilot ejects safely — Defense News
An F-16 fighter jet assigned to the US Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany crashed on Tuesday. The pilot ejected safely and is receiving medical care, Defense News reported, citing a statement from the US military.
The cause of the crash is under investigation
The US military said it is determining the cause of the incident. Emergency services were working at the crash site.
The F-16 is a multirole fighter capable of carrying out missions in both air combat and strikes against ground targets.

The flight took place as part of exercises
According to Germany's air traffic control service, four F-16 fighter jets took part in the training flight. Two aircraft remained in the training area, while two others were returning to Spangdahlem Air Base.
The German service said that one of the two F-16s returning to the base likely crashed during its approach to land. The other fighter jets landed at Ramstein Air Base of the US Air Force.
