Company executives are on trial in Germany for circumventing sanctions against Russia — ntv

The trial of two executives from a well-known company based in Olde, in the Münsterland region, has begun at the regional court in Münster, Germany.

This was reported by ntv.

The businessmen are officially accused of organizing the illegal export of large shipments of industrial goods to the Russian Federation in circumvention of the European Union’s current trade restrictions.

According to the investigation, the defendants knowingly ignored European legislation for the sake of profit.

The criminal case materials indicate a systematic nature of the violations committed by the German businessmen. The executives are charged with violating the Foreign Trade and Payments Act in 65 separate instances.

The two brothers, aged 34 and 39, who are of German-Russian descent, carried out large-scale illegal activities.

They acted in concert with their father, against whom law enforcement authorities have also formally filed charges.

The family of entrepreneurs established close business ties with Russian counterparties during the full-scale war. They allegedly exported car parts worth over 830,000 euros to Russia.

To effectively circumvent the EU’s strict ban on the sale of goods to Russia due to the war in Ukraine and to completely conceal financial transactions from customs control, the brothers developed a complex logistics scheme.

They allegedly conducted business through specially created shell companies in Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
