A funeral ceremony for King Harald V was held in Norway – Reuters
In Oslo, the capital of Norway, people bid farewell to King Harald V, who died on August 28 at the age of 89. The funeral ceremony took place on September 9, marking the end of a 13-day period of national mourning and drawing tens of thousands of citizens to the city’s streets.
The funeral procession set out from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral amid cannon salutes from Akershus Fortress. Following the memorial service and a nationwide moment of silence, the monarch’s coffin was carried to the royal crypt and laid to rest alongside his parents. With the conclusion of the ceremony, the new monarch, Haakon VIII, officially assumed his duties, after which the national flags were raised again throughout the country.
Representatives of the royal families of Great Britain, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, and Japan, as well as officials from the United States, attended the ceremony. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also took part in the mourning events, walking in the procession and meeting with the Prime Minister of Norway.

Following the death of King Harald V of Norway, his son, Crown Prince Haakon, automatically succeeded to the throne and became King Haakon VIII. Norway’s new monarch is 53 years old.
