In Norway, law enforcement officials have arrested a 45-year-old Ukrainian bank executive who had been on an international wanted list since September 2025.

This was reported by the Norwegian publication VG.

The arrest took place in Kristiansand after the man arrived on a ferry from Denmark.

According to Norwegian media reports, the man was detained right at the pier after his documents were checked.

“He confirmed his identity by providing his name and a photograph. He was detained on the basis of an Interpol international warrant. Ukrainian authorities are currently being notified of the detention,” said Hellek Røe, a representative of the Agder County Police.

Following his arrest, the Ukrainian man was remanded in custody by order of the Agder District Court.

According to court documents, the man is suspected of systematic economic crime and embezzlement of bank customers’ funds.

Investigators believe he allegedly used his position at the financial institution to gain unauthorized access to accounts and take out loans in other people’s names.

The case dates back to July 2021, when the man was working as the manager of a bank branch in a small town in Ukraine.

That day, he left for work but did not return home and stopped responding to calls. Later, his car was found in another city, after which the banker was reported missing.

Nine days later, the police found him at a hotel in another region of the country.

According to the investigation, the man attributed his disappearance to personal problems and subsequently left Ukraine.

Shortly thereafter, local residents began accusing the banker of fraud involving loans and bank accounts. The bank itself announced at the time that it was conducting an internal audit.
