Another tanker has been attacked in the Gulf of Oman — Bloomberg

The tanker "Jalvir," which was carrying asphalt and bitumen, suffered an accident in the waters off the coast of Oman. A massive fire suddenly broke out in the engine room of the vessel, which was in the waters of the Gulf of Oman.

The crew promptly sent out a distress signal; information regarding casualties or the extent of the oil spill is currently being verified.

According to Vanguard Tech, a company specializing in maritime intelligence, the incident occurred on Thursday.

According to data from an international commercial vessel tracking system, the tanker “Jalveer” is operating under the flag of Guinea-Bissau.

Typically, this chartered route runs through the Middle East, transporting petroleum blends, bitumen, and asphalt from the United Arab Emirates to India.

It remains unknown whether the vessel is subject to international sanctions imposed by Western governments.

At the same time, analytical data from Kpler indicates that the last time this tanker transported petrochemical cargo directly from Iran to India was back in 2023.

No organization or group has yet claimed responsibility for the suspected attack on the maritime transport.

This extraordinary incident occurred against the backdrop of a significant escalation of the geopolitical situation in the region.

The new incident followed two U.S. attacks on ships in the Gulf of Oman, which also reportedly had fires in their engine rooms and were carrying Indian sailors.

Such military actions have already sparked a serious diplomatic conflict between New Delhi and Washington.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

Oil prices rose amid Iran’s statements about closing the Strait of Hormuz

Global oil prices rose on June 10, partially offsetting losses from the previous trading session, when prices fell to their lowest level in seven weeks. The main factors driving the price increase were new U.S. military strikes on Iran and a significant reduction in U.S. oil inventories.

Global oil prices surged during Monday’s trading due to the resumption of hostilities in the Middle East.

Prior to this, oil prices had fallen amid a ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel — Reuters.
