In Pakistan, 41 public schools closed to accommodate law enforcement officers — Dawn
In Pakistan’s Attock district, 41 public schools have been closed for eight days, as classrooms and other premises are being used to accommodate police and other law enforcement officers. They were deployed for security measures related to preparations for a PTI protest, Dawn reports.
Which schools are closed
According to district education authorities, classes were suspended at 21 boys’ and girls’ schools in Hazro, nine schools in Hasan Abdal, seven in Fateh Jang, as well as two schools each in the Attock and Jand tehsils.
The premises of the educational institutions were designated as temporary accommodation and rest locations for law enforcement officers who arrived from different parts of Punjab province. The school closures disrupted the educational process for hundreds of students and raised concerns among parents and teachers over lost instructional time.
