Nine family members hospitalized in Pakistan over suspected poisoning — Dawn
In Pakistan, nine members of one family, including three women and four children, were taken to the district hospital in Lodhran after falling ill at their home in the village of Mauzi Khanka Ghalwan in Lodhran district. The affected people had vomiting and severe abdominal pain.
Rescuers' assistance
As Dawn reports, Rescue 1122 teams arrived in the village after an emergency call. According to the service's media coordinator, rescuers found all nine family members suffering from vomiting and abdominal pain.
They were given first aid at the scene and then transported by ambulance to Lodhran District Hospital. There, the patients received emergency medical care.

Probable cause
According to rescuers, the family ate a vegetable dish prepared at home. Some of those hospitalized said that a lizard may have accidentally fallen into the pot and that they ate the dish without knowing about it. They said severe pain and vomiting began afterward.
Doctors at the district hospital said the patients' treatment is ongoing and expressed hope that they would recover within a few days.
