Israeli settlers attack olive pickers — Al Jazeera
In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, Israeli settlers attacked olive pickers and set olive trees on fire; dozens of people were detained. Al Jazeera reports.
Attacks in olive groves
The attacks took place in the olive groves of the village of Abu Dis, the town of Awarta and the al-Zahra area in Beita, as well as in other locations. An activist from California who was helping Palestinian communities with the olive harvest and asked not to be named told the outlet that a group of about 50 masked settlers approached people. According to him, they threw stones and attacked a house.
The activist also said that Israeli military personnel arrived later, gathered Palestinians and activists picking olives, and ordered the activists to leave the area. According to him, people were made to sit on the ground at gunpoint.

Detention of journalists
In the Jabal Qammas area of Beita, south of Nablus, Israeli forces detained and beat journalists, Al Jazeera colleagues on the ground reported. The broadcaster's video also showed settlers smashing a Palestinian car in Osarin, while other footage showed armed settlers attacking a Palestinian house in Beita.
The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported the use of tear gas against Palestinians and journalists in Osarin, as well as attacks on homes, cars being pelted with stones and several residents being beaten. Palestinian media said that local residents tried to repel the settlers' attacks.
Al Jazeera cites data according to which Israelis have killed 1,212 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 2023, including 254 children. According to these data, the military committed most of the killings, while settlers were responsible for more than a quarter. Palestinian authorities said that settlers have killed 30 Palestinians since the beginning of 2026.
