In Pakistan, former lawmaker Safdar asks for verification of Bhoon’s degree — Dawn
In Islamabad, Pakistan, former National Assembly member and retired captain Muhammad Safdar filed a complaint with the Judicial Commission of Pakistan. He is requesting an urgent verification of the education, bar registration and professional credentials of commission member Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon, Dawn reports.
What Safdar asks to be verified
The petition was addressed to the commission’s secretary for submission to the chairperson and members of the body. In the complaint, Safdar claims that the law degree on the basis of which Bhoon entered the legal profession may be forged, fictitious, or impossible to verify lawfully.
The applicant asks the commission to obtain and independently verify the originals of the relevant documents. In particular, he requests that it establish the educational institution where Bhoon received his legal education, the year of admission, the duration of study and the date of completion.

Lawyer registration details
The complaint also concerns the originals of diplomas, academic transcripts, result cards and registration documents. Safdar asks for independent confirmation from the institution that issued the degree, verification through the HEC, and checks of Bhoon’s full registration details with the relevant provincial bar council and the PBC.
Separately, the applicant asks for the dates and grounds for Bhoon’s registration as a lawyer to be verified. The complaint does not explicitly demand his recusal or suspension from work at the Judicial Commission of Pakistan: the issue of possible interim measures has been left to the commission’s discretion.
According to Dawn, Bhoon reportedly served Safdar with a defamation notice for 5 billion Pakistani rupees.
