In Pakistan, PIMA calls for review of dismissal of 15 doctors — Dawn
In Pakistan, the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) expressed concern over the suspension of the registration of 15 doctors from Punjab and their subsequent dismissal from their positions.
Medical association’s position
In a statement, PIMA said that such actions increase uncertainty among doctors and may accelerate the trend of medical professionals leaving for other countries. The doctors’ representative organization also stressed that a medic’s career should not be put at risk because of a purely administrative decision.

The association said it rejects such actions because, in its view, they may have serious and far-reaching consequences for the healthcare system and patient care, Dawn reports.
Call to review the decision
PIMA Central President Professor Atif Hafeez Siddiqui called for these decisions and practices to be reviewed. According to him, the interests of patients and public health must remain the highest priority. He added that legitimate concerns and differences among doctors should be heard and resolved through meaningful dialogue.
