Four PTI activists detained in Pakistan ahead of protest — Dawn
In Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, police detained four activists and workers of the PTI party ahead of a protest scheduled for September 27. This was reported by Dawn, citing a police representative.
Detentions after a raid
According to the police officer, the activists were detained on separate charges following a statement by a sub-inspector. The charges cited by police include attempted murder, criminal intimidation, participation in rioting with dangerous weapons, resisting law enforcement officers, and obstructing them in the performance of their official duties.
Police said they received information about a meeting of PTI workers at the office of a real estate sales agent in the E-16 area. According to law enforcement, preparations for the September 27 protest were discussed there. A police team was formed for the raid and detentions.
Police also claim that during the raid, participants in the meeting attacked law enforcement officers, tore their uniforms and held them.

Preparations for the protest
Police representatives and the capital’s administration said they had begun preparations for PTI’s nationwide protest. A meeting on security measures and an action plan was held at the Islamabad Central Police Office.
Police are gathering information on the party’s preparations and the activities of its leaders, activists and workers. Enhanced surveillance has been introduced at guest houses, inns and bus terminals, as well as of potential providers of food, water, accommodation and transport for the participants in the action.
The police Special Branch and units of the counterterrorism department are involved in collecting data. According to Dawn, law enforcement officers are also monitoring the residences or places of stay of PTI leaders, activists and workers.
