About 100 Israelis entered Al-Aqsa compound — Anadolu Agency

In East Jerusalem, about 100 Israelis entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on the morning of September 20. This was reported by Anadolu Agency, citing the Jerusalem Governorate’s media office.

Governorate statement

According to the governorate’s media office, the visitors were in the compound’s courtyards under the protection of Israeli police. It also stated that they performed Talmudic rituals.

The incident occurred on the eve of Yom Kippur, which begins on the evening of September 20 and will last until the evening of September 21.

Events the day before

A day earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, several ministers, and thousands of Israelis visited the Western Wall plaza in East Jerusalem. According to the agency, the event took place amid heightened security measures.

Anadolu Agency also reported that such entries into the Al-Aqsa compound have become more frequent in recent months, particularly during Jewish holidays. The Palestinian side warns against attempts to establish new realities at the mosque and divide it temporally and spatially.
