11 people killed in shooting in South African township — Anadolu Agency

In the KwaMakhuta township south of Durban, South Africa, armed attackers killed 11 people and wounded three others. The shooting occurred late in the evening at a residential house in the eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal. Anadolu Agency reports, citing the eNCA television channel.

Attack at a house

According to eNCA, people were in a private residence when unidentified attackers burst in and opened fire. The attack took place on Tuesday shortly before 23:00 local time, which corresponds to 21:00 GMT.

Ten people died at the scene of the shooting. Another person died from injuries while being transported to hospital. A pregnant woman was among the victims.

Car set on fire

Before fleeing, the attackers set fire to a car belonging to the homeowner. The motive for the deadly attack remains unknown. The identities of the attackers have not been established, and authorities have not reported any arrests of suspects.
