White House will not allow CNN on Air Force One despite court ruling — Jerusalem Post

The White House will not allow CNN journalists to accompany U.S. President Donald Trump aboard Air Force One during a trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, scheduled for Saturday. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post, citing The Washington Post, which quoted two people familiar with the decision.

Court ruling on accreditations

The report came after U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly on Thursday ordered the Trump administration to restore White House access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico. The judge made a preliminary finding that the ban imposed by the president on the three media outlets likely violates the U.S. Constitution.

Kelly barred officials from enforcing the restrictions for 14 days and ordered them to immediately return the media outlets' permanent White House credentials. In his ruling, the judge noted that the case materials contain no factual support for the defendants' claim that revoking the passes was necessary to protect national security.

CNN reported continued denial

On Tuesday, Trump said he would “probably” allow journalists from the three media outlets access to the White House if the court so decided. At the same time, CNN reported on Thursday that its journalists continued to be denied entry to the White House without explanation.

The Washington Post requested comment from the White House and CNN, but had not received a response at the time of publication.
