In South Africa, police searched the family home of suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu in KwaZulu-Natal and seized his mobile phone. The search took place on Monday morning.

According to TimesLIVE, Mchunu’s spokesperson, Stembiso Mshengu, confirmed that the operation was conducted. He said that a group of police officers had a search-and-seizure warrant issued by the High Court in Johannesburg, which listed specific phone IMEI numbers.
Mshengu said that Mchunu handed over the phone in the presence of his lawyer. He also noted that this was the second time police had seized these communication devices without returning the first set. According to the spokesperson, Mchunu plans to comment on these events and other matters connected with his name next week.

Arrest of Shadrack Sibiya
The phone seizure occurred after the arrest of General Shadrack Sibiya, whom the outlet describes as a possible ally of Mchunu. Sibiya is facing rape charges and appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
As Sowetan reports, Sibiya’s home in Centurion and Mchunu’s home in KwaZulu-Natal may have been searched simultaneously on Monday morning.
