Fundraising launched in South Africa for daughter of slain runner Elizabeth Moselakgomo — TimesLIVE
A fundraising campaign has been launched in Kempton Park, South Africa, to support the family of 38-year-old Elizabeth “Tsonzo” Moselakgomo, who was found dead after disappearing during a run on September 9. The campaign on the BackaBuddy platform was created primarily to help her daughter and loved ones.
Fundraiser for the family
As TimesLIVE reports, the authorized campaign has a target of 50,000 South African rand. During the first 24 hours after its launch, it raised 30,700 rand.
Organizers said they would contact the Moselakgomo family directly, and that the money raised would be used to support her loved ones in the coming weeks and months, with particular attention to the needs of her young daughter.
The Vitality running club, of which Moselakgomo was a member, expressed its condolences to the family. The club said she was an active runner and a valued member of the community, took part in Vitality Run Series events, and recently completed the 21 km distance at the Wanderers race.

Memorial runs
Discovery Vitality CEO Dinesh Govender said the company would also make a contribution to support the family. Other running communities are organizing memorial events in Moselakgomo’s honor.
Run With Us KG participants held a morning run on Tuesday; organizers said that approximately 90% of those present were women. The group also planned an evening run in solidarity with women who want to run without fear.
The 05:00am Gang community in Stinkwater scheduled a silent march and run for Wednesday. Participants were urged to wear black, cover their mouths with black tape as a sign of silent protest, not attend alone, and stay together during the event.
