The remains of former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji will be cremated in Beijing

According to ECNS, citing Xinhua, the remains of former Chinese State Council Premier Zhu Rongji will be cremated in Beijing on Tuesday.

Zhu Rongji died on August 12 at the age of 98. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the 14th and 15th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China and served as Premier of the State Council.

As a sign of mourning, national flags will be flown at half-mast on Tuesday at Tiananmen Square, Xinhuamen, the Great Hall of the People, and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Flags will also be flown at half-mast at the headquarters of the Chinese Communist Party committees and provincial-level government bodies, in the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, at border crossings, seaports and airports, as well as at Chinese embassies and consulates.

In an obituary jointly issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Zhu Rongji was described as an outstanding leader of the Party and the state.
