Historic hall with 1,424 Buddha statues opens in Beijing — ECNS

In Beijing, China, the Hall of Precious Glazed Tiles in Beihai Park has opened to visitors. The structure is nearly 300 years old and had been closed for more than 70 years before reopening. Restoration work was carried out in the hall before its opening, and visitor conditions were improved.

Features of the structure

The hall is known for 1,424 glazed statues of Amitayus Buddha embedded in its outer walls. ECNS reported the opening of the complex on September 29.

The restoration work was carried out according to the principle of minimal intervention. This made it possible to preserve the building’s historic layout and architectural features while improving the premises and visitor routes.

Exhibitions and visits

The hall also plans to regularly host exhibitions dedicated to its history and the craftsmanship of glazed decoration. The complex has been included in the visitor route of Beihai Park.
