Punjab introduces mandatory fire safety training for WASA staff — Dawn
Pakistan’s Punjab Department of Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering has approved mandatory fire safety training for employees at all drainage stations operated by Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) agencies.
Training with Rescue 1122
As Dawn reports, Punjab WASA has instructed the heads of all agencies to immediately coordinate with district units of the Rescue 1122 service. They must organize structured practical sessions for personnel at every station within their jurisdiction.
The initiative is intended to standardize operational safety standards, including fire safety, at WASA stations and strengthen the ability of facility staff to respond effectively to fires.

Reports and documentation of training
The program will cover basic fire safety rules, identification of potential hazards and emergency response procedures. Practical sessions will be conducted in coordination with Rescue 1122.
WASA agencies were also instructed to make high-resolution video recordings and take photographs during all training sessions at every station. Full compliance reports together with video recordings must be submitted to Punjab WASA and the department’s secretary for centralized monitoring and record-keeping. The directive was issued with the approval of the Punjab department’s secretary.
