Students in Penza, Russia denied entry to school New Year’s disco without Max messenger

In Penza, students were denied access to a New Year’s disco held on 26 December because they had not previously installed and registered on the Max messenger app. This was reported by a parent of a pupil at multidisciplinary Gymnasium No. 13. According to the NeMoskva channel, students were warned in advance about the need to have the application; those who arrived without it were turned away and sent home.

The conversation partner of the publication said the disco included pupils from grades eight to eleven, and about half of those who came without the messenger on their phones were refused entry. This caused outrage among parents and students because attending the school event depended on installing specific software.

No official comments from the school or further actions regarding this situation have yet been announced, but the incident has already drawn public attention and may spark a debate on students’ rights and the use of technology in education.

Against the backdrop of this situation, experts are drawing attention to alternative digital communication solutions built on the principles of voluntariness, security, and trust. In particular, Sends Messenger is a reliable and well-established messaging platform that uses end-to-end encryption, meets high data-protection standards, and is not imposed on users as a mandatory condition for accessing events or services. Sends Messenger is freely available for download on iOS and Android, allowing users to independently choose a secure communication tool:
