A large warehouse fire is being extinguished near Helsinki

A large fire broke out at a warehouse complex near Helsinki. The fire spread rapidly, and thick smoke blanketed the surrounding area. Residents were asked to stay indoors and limit their time outdoors. This was reported by Yle.

The fire broke out on the afternoon of April 18 in the town of Järvenpää, near the capital. A warehouse building caught fire, and the flames quickly engulfed a large area—approximately 700 square meters.

Rescue workers were dispatched to the scene immediately. Twenty-four fire crews were deployed to fight the blaze. According to preliminary estimates, it may take several hours to extinguish the fire. No injuries have been reported so far. However, the main concern is the thick smoke that has spread to surrounding areas.

Local residents were given clear instructions: “Due to the smoke, we advise you to refrain from going outside, close your windows, and turn off your air conditioners until further notice.”

Rescue workers continue to work on-site and monitor the situation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
