In St. Petersburg, during the renovation of the “Park Pobedy” metro station, a new design concept was unveiled that has already drawn public attention due to the use of military symbols in the interior. These are decorative elements planned to be integrated into the station’s flooring and finishes.

The renovation will feature themed panels and memorial elements dedicated to the history of World War II and events related to Leningrad.

In St. Petersburg, the “Park Pobedy” metro station, which is currently undergoing renovation, will receive a new architectural design with an emphasis on military and historical themes. This was announced by the city’s governor, Alexander Beglov, while commenting on the concept for the station’s renovation.

According to him, metal panels incorporating remelted metal from military equipment found on the battlefields near Leningrad are planned to be installed in the upper lobby. Certain design elements, as noted, will include images of military symbols, which will be integrated into the flooring in the passenger passageway. “Images of the insignia of military units that were part of the Wehrmacht are planned to be applied to some of the panels. They will be integrated into the floor pattern before and after the turnstiles,” TASS quoted Beglov as saying.

In addition to the floor design, the project includes other memorial elements. A mural dedicated to World War II, the Battle of Leningrad, and the siege of the city is planned for the ground-level pavilion. A mosaic depicting historical scenes is also set to appear in the upper part of the hall, while the lower lobby will feature bas-reliefs and panels with military motifs and archival images. The station’s renovation is ongoing, and the final design of the renovated space remains under discussion. This is according to reports in Russian media.

Earlier, on June 16, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don handed down sentences to two Ukrainian prisoners of war from the “Azov” battalion, sentencing them to 17 and 20 years of imprisonment in a penal colony.
