In South Korea, Sunfull Foundation renews commitment to combat cyberbullying
South Korea’s Sunfull Foundation has renewed its commitment to combat cyberbullying and promote a culture of kind comments online. The initiative marked the 19th anniversary of the campaign; the event in central Seoul was held under the slogan “National Declaration Against AI Deepfakes and Malicious Comments,” Korea Herald reports.

Schoolchildren, educators, company representatives, celebrities and diplomats took part in the event. Those present included Lee Jae-jung, chair of the National Assembly Committee on Culture, Sports and Tourism; Kim Hee-jung, chair of the Education Committee; Ahn Min-seok, superintendent of education for Gyeonggi Province; Chinese Ambassador Dai Bing; and Italian Ambassador Emilia Gatto.
Participants took an oath to work toward eradicating cyberbullying. They also called on the National Assembly to establish an annual day dedicated to the commitment not to post malicious comments and stressed the need to counter bullying before it leads to tragedies.

Support from public figures
Six celebrities spoke about their own experiences of cyberbullying. They included Indian actor Lucky, American chef Austin Kang, and Gabi and Shreya, members of the K-pop group Blackswan. All six were appointed promotional ambassadors for the foundation.
Sunfull founder Min Byung-chul said malicious comments are combining with AI deepfake technologies and taking on new forms. According to him, the level of school violence has declined, but the number of malicious comments has not decreased.
Chinese Ambassador Dai Bing supported the initiative, which, he said, also extends to foreigners living in Korea, including migrant workers and members of multicultural families. Italian Ambassador Emilia Gatto called cyberbullying a global problem and stressed the need for international cooperation to reduce the harm caused by aggressive behavior online.
