Data of 220,000 Gangnam Unni users leaked in South Korea
In South Korea, the cosmetic and plastic procedure platform Gangnam Unni reported a leak of personal data belonging to 219,665 users. Service operator Healing Paper said that those affected include about 160,000 people in South Korea and 48,000 in Japan, as well as users from Taiwan, Thailand, China and other countries.
What data was exposed
As The Korea Herald reports, the exposed data included names, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, gender, country or region of residence, social media login identifiers, IP addresses and device information.
Sensitive information from consultations was also exposed: names of procedures and hospitals, information about doctors, preferred appointment times, reasons for seeking treatment, consultation status and photographs.

Access through an API
According to Healing Paper, an unauthorized party accessed consultation records through an API on Thursday. The company blocked this access, but on Friday, it said, the same attacker attempted to access the system by another method.
Healing Paper published an apology on its website and individually notified all affected users. The company also added a feature allowing them to check exactly which personal data was exposed; it will be available for 30 days.
Healing Paper CEO Hong Seung Il said that the company takes the incident seriously and apologized to Gangnam Unni users.
