A decade-old murder series uncovered in Moscow region: perpetrator transferred victims' property to himself

In the Moscow region, authorities uncovered a series of murders dating back about ten years, in which the offender transferred victims' properties to his own name. Initially, a woman and her child went missing, but later evidence connected these cases to subsequent crimes.

According to Baza, in December 2010, 44-year-old Alisa Vasilieva and her 10-year-old daughter Alena disappeared without a trace. Their bodies were found in a lake in May 2011, but the case remained unsolved, despite ongoing investigations. In March 2024, the body of Sergey Gorbachenko was discovered at a gardening community in Noginsk; he had gone missing in November 2023. During the investigation, it was revealed that both Alisa and Sergey had transferred ownership of their Moscow apartments to the same man before disappearing.

The cases were merged and the mysterious man was put on the wanted list. He was identified as 38-year-old Andrey Leontiev. After the second murder, he left Russia for the USA and stayed there for a long time. In June 2025, Leontiev was detained at Vnukovo Airport when trying to deceive another woman with fake documents; she was about to transfer him a plot of land near Moscow and an apartment in the capital.

This high-profile case sheds light on a dangerous scheme involving the unlawful appropriation of victims' property and illustrates the persistence of law enforcement agencies in solving crimes even after many years.

Further investigation is expected to reveal all the circumstances around these crimes and ensure that all responsible individuals are held accountable.
